2010/2011 ERT Summer Season Teams to qualify for the summer season finals were: Saturday Boys 7, 16 & 21 Green, Girls 1, 9 & Sunday Girls 3. Sunday Mixed 1 finished second in their 6 team section and went straight into the Grand-Final together with Boys 7, 21 Green, Girls 1 and Sunday Girls 3. Premiers were as follows: Saturday Girls 1: Saturday Boys 21 Green: Sunday Girls 3: 2010 ERT Winter Season Eight of our eleven Junior summer teams qualified for the semi-finals with six teams going on to qualify for the Grand-Final. Saturday BSD3, BSD6, BSD22 and Sunday GSD1 were all runners-up. Saturday BSD 15 and Sunday BSD 7 won their Grand-Finals in convincing fashion. 2009/2010 ERT Summer Season Eight of our eleven Junior summer teams qualified for the semi-finals with six teams going on to qualify for the Grand-Final. Saturday BSD3, BSD6, BSD22 and Sunday GSD1 were all runners-up. Saturday BSD 15 and Sunday BSD 7 won their Grand-Finals in convincing fashion. 2009 ERT Winter Season In the 2009 ERT Winter season we had 11 teams competing and 6 teams qualified for the semi-finals. Also our Sunday Girls 1 team were in a six team section and won a very close last round to advance straight in to the Grand-Final. With several teams non-rotating during the season we made use of several emergency players during the season and also in the finals. Thanks to those players who were willing to help out and fill in – sometimes with very little notice. Special thanks to Jack Haddrick who was willing to fill in for our Boys 3 team in their semi-final match despite it being many sections higher than his usual team! Jack’s willingness to help out avoided us having to forfeit the Semi-Final due to the unavailability of two of the regular team. Grand-Final results were as follows: Sat. Boys 23 - PREMIERS: Finished 2nd and in the SF defeated Scoresby at home 6/45 to 2/25. In the GF the boys won easily against the top team Nunawading 6/43 to 2/27. Well done to all seven team members – all first time premiership players for the Club!! Sean Rennick (Capt.), William Molloy, Harrison Davis, Matthew Cohn, Daniel Gray, Chris & Alex Thompson. Sat. Girls 1 - PREMIERS: After several seasons of getting close with a variety of combinations in recent seasons, our Saturday Girls 1 team have finally won the top girls section after many years. In the SF after finishing 3rd the regular team of Nicole Clark, Louise Roberts and Jesse Green (Capt.) won away against Emerald 4/31 to 2/21. In the GF against the top team Healesville the girls were joined by Caroline Ma as Jesse Green was unavailable. After a very close match our girls were Premiers 3/29 to 3/27. Sun. Girls 1 - PREMIERS: After winning the Sat. GF the same three girls played the very next day in the Sunday Girls 1 GF. Nicole Clark, Louise Roberts & Caroline Ma scored another upset victory over the 1st team Bulleen Green. After 4 sets the match was tied at two sets all with our girls up by 2 games. The 3 player format then meant that our Number 3 girl Caroline Ma was to play the singles and our Number 1 & 2 girls Nicole Clark & Louise Roberts would play the deciding doubles set. Caroline was down 5 games to 1 and stormed back to almost claim the set only to lose 5/7. Our other girls were in a see/saw doubles battle and needed to win the set to win the match. After a long tense set which no doubt had all parents on edge our girls won a tie-break to win the premiership by 1 game – 3/31 to 3/30. Well done to all girls for a great weekend of finals tennis – don’t think you’ll forget that one for a while!! Best wishes to young Stella Petridis who was a member of our Sunday Girls 1 team but sustained an injury during the season and was unable to play for the latter half of the season – hope the recovery is going well.
2008/2009 ERT Summer Season Our 11 Junior Summer teams competed well this past season. Thanks to all the team captains and their parents for assisting in the organisation of their teams. Once again several teams performed well and we had 5 teams qualify for the semi-finals. Only two teams went on to qualify for the Grand-Final – Saturday Girls 3 & Sunday Girls 1 Green. Unfortunately both teams were beaten in the Grand-Final but well done for reaching the GF girls!! 2008 ERT Winter Season Our Junior Winter teams competed well this past season with 9 teams qualifying for the finals. Only one team went on to win the premiership but – a “special” one it was!! For the first time in many years two Blackburn Junior teams played each other in the top section of one of the ERT Junior categories – Sunday Mixed Section 1. The Blackburn “Green” team were victorious and as Premiers of the top section have won for the Club the “Max Atkins” Perpetual Shield which the Club gets to hold for a year. 2008 Junior Winter ERT Finals Results Sat. Girls 1 – Montrose def. Blackburn by 2 games – Bad-luck Girls and well done for coming so close after finishing 4th and beating the top team in the semi-final. Sat. Boys 14 – Templestowe Park def. Blackburn by 11 games Sun. Girls 3 – St Francis Xavier def. Blackburn by 3 games – Again very close! Sunday Mixed 1 – Blackburn Green defeated Blackburn Blue (6 sets, 48 games to 2 sets 25 games) Blackburn “Green” Premiers - Lucy Cussen (Capt.), Rebecca King, Nicole Clark, Luke Bratchford, Jordan Crouch Blackburn “Blue” Runners-Up – Chris Edwards (Capt.), Scott Edwards, Regan Clark, Louise Roberts, Caroline Ma
2007/2008 ERT Summer Season Nine of our thirteen Junior ERT teams qualified for the 2007/2008 ERT Summer Season finals. Three teams went on to win a premiership!! Special thanks to all our summer season team captains for organising their teams well throughout the season. Saturday Summer Captains: Girls 1 – Kayley McGeachy, Girls 5 – Stella Petridis, Boys 3 – Sam Coleman, Boys 10 – Bill Campbell-Brennan, Boys 15 – Ayrton Pillai, Boys 22 – Mitchell Worthington. Sunday Summer Captains: Mixed 1 Green – Laura Fallon, Mixed 1 Blue – Jason Schinck, Girls 1 – Nicole Clark, Girls 2 – Camille Horley, Boys 2 – James Cran, Boys 3 – Chris Burrows, Boys 7 – Sam Benson Particular thanks to Mitchell Worthington for doing a great job with getting a full team together each week (they started with only 3 players). Mitchell’s team made the semi-finals and after losing 3 of the first 4 sets came back to draw the match and were a bit unlucky to lose the extra deciding set. Well done for hanging in so well to Samuel Best, Daniel Russ, Ben Loh and Mitchell – there’s always next time guys!! 2007/2008 Junior ERT Premiers Saturday Boys 10 – Bill Campbell-Brennan (c), Richard Bottomer, Tristan Evans, Eugene Pillai, James Ward Saturday Boys 15 – Ayrton Pillai (c), Luke Bonifacio, Aidan Frai, Adam Peroni Sunday Boys 7 – Sam Benson (c), Callan Bidinost, Regan Clark, Aidan Frai, Michael O’Bree Boys 10 defeated Box Hill in a very close match by 5 sets/41 games to 3 sets 40 game. Great start, then a lull but held off a strong finishing opposition - much to the delight of some relieved parents!! Boys 15 defeated Currawong away by 5 set/43 games to 3 sets/32 games – lost the first two sets but came back strongly to win 5 of the 6 remaining sets with team captain, Ayrton Pillai, leading the way with a glorious 6/1 victory at Number 1 – Great team effort guys!! Boys 7 scored a convincing victory over Kew Blue – 8 sets/50 games to 0 sets/23 games – Dominant all season – Glorious!!
