ELM TREES GONE APRIL 2016

18/4/2016

The trees running along our northern boundary, between the courts and the railway line were removed recently as part of the railway crossing removal project. The main tree lopping occurred on the morning of the Summer Season Junior Semi-finals which certainly created quite a buzz....for want of a better word!!
As per the pictures the elm trees replaced cypress trees which were removed 21 years ago due to safety concerns. At the time the Club disagreed with the council with regard to the choice of replacement trees - i.e. the elm trees dropped their leaves ~7 times per year which created quite a lot of court maintenance issues for us, particularly during the wetter months.
Hopefully as the railway crossing removal works progress we may end up with a more suitable planting along our northern boundary.
